Worried about your child’s educational progress? Get in touch for advice and support: DEAL advice line social media3 (1)

In October last year we launched the Dorset Education Advice Line – an advice line for parents and carers who are worried their child might not be making the progress they should be, or who may believe their child might have emerging special educational needs.

To date, we’ve spoken with approximately 60 Dorset families, talking to them about their worries and concerns, and making sure they get the right help, at the right time.

Cllr Andrew Parry, Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Children, Education, Skills and Early Help said:

“The Education Advice Line will help to ensure that families and professionals work together at the earliest opportunity to engage in early identification and universal support for families in Dorset.

“If you are concerned about your child’s academic progress, or social and emotional development, then please do get in touch. Our Special Educational Needs Family Workers are here to listen, offer advice and can talk through your concerns with you.”

Storm Eunice – Friday 18 February 2022

DCC considers this information important:

https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/emergencies-severe-weather/disrupted-services

As you may have seen, Storm Eunice is expected to hit Dorset this evening and into tomorrow.

The council has made the difficult decision to advise schools to close and has suspended many services tomorrow/on Friday as 100mph winds are predicted to hit the county from Thursday night into Friday morning and through to the evening.

To help keep yourselves and others safe, please consider the following:

  • Secure loose items in your garden, such as trampolines and furniture covers.
  • Consider whether you need to travel. If you don’t, it may be best to stay at home.
  • If you do have to travel, take extra care. Drive to the conditions and watch out for debris on the roads.
  • Spotted a tree down or another obstruction on the highway? Let us know using online.
  • For the latest weather forecast, please see the Met Office.
  • For Dorset-specific updates, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

eConsult Changes – Blandford Group Practice

Message as advised from Stourpaine PC Clerk:

Changes to our e-Consult service

Due to significant demand across our sites, the Blandford Group Practice e-Consult service is now available Monday to Friday during the hours of 8am to 8pm.

This change will enable us to better balance how we deliver your care, and allow us to continue the life-saving COVID-19 booster programme.

We are still committed to offering patients appointments in the most appropriate way for them, be that face-to-face, by phone, or video chat.

If you require medical advice outside of practice opening hours, NHS 111 is always available online (111.nhs.uk) and by phone. Trained operators can direct you to the most appropriate service for your needs.

If you are in an emergency or life-threatening situation, please call 999.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through these unprecedented times
