BURGLARY NEAR STURMINSTER NEWTON – WITNESS APPEAL

Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a burglary near Sturminster Newton.

The incident took place between 10.15am and 12.40pm on Friday 12 December 2014 on the B3091 in the village of Manston.

The offenders gained access to the house by forcing open a ground floor window and carried out an untidy search.

A Dell laptop with a red top, a Seiko men’s watch with a brown leather strap, a quantity of cash and Christmas cards were stolen.

Police Constable Stuart Beasley, of Blandford police, said: “The owner was out Christmas shopping with her three young children at the time of the incident and it is believed the offenders may have been in the area of the village hall before and after the incident.

“I urge anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously along the B3091 during that time period to contact me.

“Dorset Police would like to reassure residents that it is rare for burglaries to be committed during the day time in North Dorset.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 12:178. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.

Disruption and Detection of Drug related Activity

Due to the continued flow of community intelligence, a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant was executed this morning at an address in Blandford St. Mary.  This resulted in a man being dealt with for possession of a controlled substance.

This is a positive outcome, fed directly from the information that the public are providing us.  Please continue to report any such activity to Dorset Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.  #yousaywedo

Theft of Wellington Boots – C:14:D:52575

Between 6pm on Monday 15^th December and 8am on Tuesday 16^th December 3 pairs of wellington boots were stolen from outside the front door of a property on Tower Hill, Iwerne Minister.

Although this is the only reported crime of this nature, we have been made aware of the possibility that further boots may have been taken from outside properties in the surrounding area.

If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in and around the Tower Hill area during the aforementioned times, please contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting crime number 52575.

We would also like to take the time to remind people to keep their property safe and secure, as unfortunately, some people will take advantage of items left unattended, even if they are on someone’s property.

Dorset Police – Horse Watch

Dorset Police have just had a report of a Chestnut Horse, approx 16hh, wearing a rug missing from the Ibberton area.
It is possible that this horse has been spooked by last nights weather as refused to go into stable last night. Usually a calm animal, this is unusual.

Please check any fields locally to you and call Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident number 12:0126 if there are any sightings.
Dorset Police – Stop That Thief Programme

On Tuesday evening in Gillingham a Stop That Thief alarm was activated at around 19.00hrs. The landowner checked the alarm and confirmed an attempted intruder.  The intruder was disturbed and  left empty handed after the landowner activated lights and let the dogs out. The landowner informed the Police who made an area search for the offender, but sadly with no joy.

Door step charity collectors

Just to make you aware that we have been informed that there will be door to door charity collectors operating in the area of North Dorset during the month of December.  We advise everyone to check the identity of anyone when dealing with them on the doorstep and advise again not to give out any personal information.  Many organisations use this method of fundraising by collecting peoples details and setting up direct debits to support the charity, but we strongly advise you to always check peoples identity and if unsure obtain information yourself from the charity to organise supporting them..  Dorset Police has not vetted or referred any organisation that might be operating door to door. If in doubt keep them out!

Horse Tack Marking Road show

Thursday 11th December 2014

Dorset Horse Watch will be visiting stables and agricultural properties in the North Dorset area with the tack marking equipment and horse watch signage.
We will be offering safety and security advice to horse riders and owners as well as marking tack.

Cold Callers

On Thursday 27th November 2014 a suspicious vehicle was reported in the Child Okeford area. Police attended the incident and spoke with the occupants of the vehicle who were in the area canvassing for business.

Please be aware that if you require work to be completed in or around your home then it may be better to arrange to have these works completed by local tradesmen yourself, rather than employing and therefore encouraging cold callers.

Theft of red diesel

A theft of red diesel has occurred overnight on the 27th November 2014 from a yard in Todber, Sturminster Newton. A red Nissan Primera was seen in the area acting suspiciously. If anyone has any information then please contact Dorset Police on 101.

An urgent message has been received from Dorset Police –

Iwerne Minster Shed Breaks – Overnight between 10.11.2014 – 11.11.2014

3 shed breaks have been reported to Police, which have occurred in close proximity to each other: Tower Hill, Church Hill and Shute Lane.  Various pieces of gardening equipment have been stolen including high value chainsaws and hedge strimmers.

We are approaching the time of year when people are securing their sheds and outbuildings for the winter.  This usually leads to an increase in these types of crimes, owing to thieves being aware that equipment is packed away and the likely time delay in which the crime is discovered.

Please take this opportunity to make sure that all your crime prevention measures are in good working order and outbuilding/sheds are secured appropriately.  Furthermore, as the evenings draw in, we are asking people to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious circumstances to the Police on 101, or 999 in you believe a crime is in progress.

Trailer Theft 17th October 2014

Between midday on Tuesday 14th – The morning of Friday 17th October a 5 ton plant trailer and welding equipment was stolen from the yard at Todber.
During the week a red Land Rover Discovery was seen hanging around the area.

Theft of Quad Bike 14th October 2014

Crime 42894 Overnight Monday 13th October – Tuesday 14th October a Quad bike was stolen from a farm at Bedchester, Shaftesbury. Padlocks on gates were cut and access was gained across fields to the rear of the farm.
