Dorset County Council’s Grasscutting Regime

Rural cuts

Accident blackspots in the rural areas will also be cut six times from April to October. Other rural verges, including dual carriageways, will be cut twice during the same period.

Additional cuts

Towns, parishes and communities can do additional cuts between our cuts but they should
contact us to ensure they comply with our safety guidelines and avoid overlap and wasting
resources. We are providing training to existing lengthsmen so that they can take on some of this work, as negotiated with individual parishes.

Conservation verges

As usual, we will implement special cutting regimes on verges the Dorset Wildlife Trust has identified as special.

Dorset Highways aims to eradicate Japanese Knotweed and to control Common Ragwort, but resources are limited for weed control so progress is necessarily slow.
