TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE – A357 BLANDFORD ROAD, SHILLINGSTONE

The A357 BLANDFORD ROAD, SHILLINGSTONE has an emergency road closure notice that will come in to operation from Sunday 31^stJanuary 2021 and will remain in force for 21 days.

Wessex Water will work extended working hours 7 days a week, however will not work overnight due to the residential nature of the area.

A manned closure will be introduced between Durweston Bridge to Bridge Street, Sturminster Newton – this is to ensure HGVs don’t drive in to the ‘road closed’ area as there will be nowhere for them to turn around.

Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained and signage will be put out in the surrounding villages to indicated that the routes are not suitable for HGV traffic.

The Stourpaine Parish Council has not been consulted on this development but because of the impact on the A350 and accordingly Stourpaine itself the Parish Council has submitted the attached response to Dorset Council:

Three extra days – Free December Parking

There will be free parking in Dorset Council car parks on Saturdays during December in Beaminster, Blandford, Bridport, Dorchester, Ferndown, Gillingham, Lyme Regis, Shaftesbury, Sturminster Newton, Wareham, Weymouth and Wimborne.

Dorset Council offers free parking days for residents and businesses this Christmas

In Sherborne, having previously been approved earlier this year, town centre car parks will be free on selected Mondays instead.
