29th August 2021
The last Sunday in August saw Stourpaine Village coming “back to life” after the last 18 months which have seen many village events and activities curtailed.
The Parish Council and Stourpaine Village Hall and Playing Fields Association hosted a barbeque to celebrate the opening of the Gazebo. The Gazebo has been erected for the comfort of playground and playing field users by the Parish Council, with funding from the Big Lottery Fund. It commemorates last year’s 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
The sun shone on the celebrations where Stourpaine villagers enjoyed a delicious barbeque with a drink of Pimms (or other drinks!) and excellent entertainment from Blandford Stour Valley Band and local musician Dan Baker. The Gardening Club ran a plant sale and judged their annual Potato growing competition and the festivities were rounded off by a duck race in the Iwerne.
A good time was had by all!
