The first thing you should do is contact the provider you wish to switch to and they will be able to explain the process<\/a> you need to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One-stop Switch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If your current broadband service runs on the Openreach <\/strong>phone network, and you\u2019re switching to another provider that also uses this network, you can follow a \u2018one-stop\u2019 switching process. (Companies that use the Openreach network include BT, EE, Sky, TalkTalk and Vodafone<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under this process, you don\u2019t need to contact your current provider at all<\/em>. Instead, your new provider can arrange the transfer for you. Once you\u2019ve contacted your new provider to begin the switching process, both your new provider and old provider must both send you a letter to inform you of the switch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Switching between Networks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you’re switching to, or from, a fibre-to-the-premise<\/strong> or \u2018full-fibre<\/strong>\u2019 service or a provider that doesn\u2019t use the Openreach network, you should contact both providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Switching a Bundle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you use a bundle of services with a provider, for example home phone and broadband, you will usually follow one of the processes described above but if you also a TV service, there might be some differences \u2013 particularly if the switch involves cancelling a satellite TV service. Your new provider can give you information on this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you take a landline and broadband service from the same provider, switching your broadband provider is likely to mean switching your landline service<\/a> at the same time.
