On 02 June 2014,\u00a0Dorset County Council is kicking off a series of road shows all\u00a0around the county inviting the public to come and tell them what they think is\u00a0most important in the wide range of services they pay for through their Council\u00a0Tax.<\/p>\n

The council doesn’t want to stand still, and is ready to change as a result of\u00a0listening to local people.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s even more important that they listen now, as like all public services Dorset\u00a0County Council\u2019s budget has been squeezed as part of the national austerity\u00a0measures. So far the council has worked hard to find these savings and has\u00a0reduced its overall annual budget by \u00a360 million, whilst having minimal impact\u00a0on front line services, and needs to save a further \u00a343 million over the next\u00a0few years.<\/p>\n

The county council will though still be spending \u00a3250 million a year, so this is\u00a0a real opportunity to make sure that the money is spent wisely, and to have\u00a0the greatest positive impact on the things you think are most important,\u00a0whether that is the state of our roads, running our outdoor education service\u00a0and libraries, or providing social care services for older people.<\/p>\n

We need your help<\/strong>. We need to know what you value the most, what is most
\nimportant to you and your family and friends.<\/p>\n

You can get involved in lots of different ways<\/strong>:
\nIn person at one of our road shows. Come at meet us, at our road shows you\u00a0will have the opportunity to talk to your local councillor, a member of our\u00a0cabinet, our most senior officers or even possibly the chief executive.<\/p>\n

You can also get involved online at www.dorsetforyou.com\/have-your-say<\/a>\u00a0You will also find more information in our newspaper Your Dorset<\/strong><\/em> which you\u00a0will receive in June. Whichever way suits you, we really want to hear from\u00a0you.<\/p>\n
