Stourpaine – Flooding

Dorset StourFollowing the unfortunate incidents of flooding that occurred over the Christmas period in Stourpaine, it is the intention of the Parish Council to meet as soon as practical with both the Environment Agency and North Dorset District Council to discuss the issue.

If you have any photographs that have been taken of the flooding in the village, the Parish Council would like use them to help build our case for measures to be taken by the Environment Agency to protect the village from the results of flooding.

Photographs can be e-mailed to the Parish Clerk stourpaine@dorset-aptc.gov.uk

Flooding – Stourpaine Parish Council

As you know the very heavy rainfall in July meant that the Stour and therefore the Iwerne burst their banks and flooded the lower part of the village,in particular Havelins. One property was very badly affected and others only just escaped. We therefore asked the Environment Agency if it would send an officer to speak to the Parish Council and affected/interested residents to discuss what it might be possible to do to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The Environment Agency agreed and Steve Malpass, one of their technical officers, is coming to the next Parish Council meeting – at 7.00pm on Thursday 20th September in the Village Hall. Do come along to hear what he says, ask questions and take part in the discussion.
