Blandford Choral Society welcomes new musical directors to celebrate 70 years of singing.

Blandford Choral society is looking for new members to help celebrate 70 years of singing with an exciting programme of music including a Carol Concert at Blandford Forum’s parish church, St Peter and St Paul Church, and a performance at the Free Expression festival next year, both under the auspices of their new directors Dr. Richard Hall and Richard Marchant. There will also be a wonderful opportunity to sing with the Dorset Guild of Choirs during the spring term.

The Blandford Choral Society was formally established in 1946, which means that they will be celebrating their seventieth birthday during this musical year (the choir year is the same as the school year). Prior to that time, however, evidence suggests that it existed in a more informal way, meaning that it could now actually be 140 years old! It would be wonderful to celebrate such an event with as many people from Blandford and the surrounding area as possible, so if you would be interested in joining, please come along! The first two rehearsals are free to give you a chance to form an opinion! We welcome people of any age who enjoy singing and would like to develop their voices. There are no auditions, and everyone is encouraged to “have a go”. Rehearsals are held in Blandford St Mary Primary School, every Monday evening between 7.30 and 9.30pm.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact our chairman, Julie Newall, on telephone number 01258 456721 or check out our Facebook page for more details.  We look forward to seeing you as we celebrate 70 glorious years of singing.
